FAQs

What happens on the first visit?

Peter will take a detailed history of your problem and general health status.  He will perform a physical examination using orthopaedic, neurological, and chiropractic tests to assess whether your problem can be helped by chiropractic treatment.

After discussion with you, Peter will propose a treatment plan. He can choose from a variety of chiropractic techniques suited to your body, general health, and fitness level.

Most treatments occur lying or sitting on the adjustment table.  Patients remain fully clothed and are welcome to have friends or family accompany them.

Treatment begins on the first visit.

How many treatments will I need?

Some problems resolve quickly and only require a couple of visits, while others take longer for you to get out of pain and restore function and will require more visits.  This will be discussed with you.

Am I eligible for ACC?

If your problem is the result of an accident (a sudden traumatic event) within the past year, we can lodge an ACC claim on your behalf.  This means that ACC will pay part of the treatment fee.

If you have an existing claim for an injury, please bring the details to the first visit.

Will I need X-Rays?

If an X-Ray is required, we can refer you to the local medical radiology clinic.  With your permission we can access your X-Ray results on-line.

If I ignore the pain, will it go away?

A problem in one part of the body often causes a compromise in muscles and posture in another part of the body.

Even when pain appears to be settling, do not ignore it as the problem will probably recur with time – often more severe and becoming more complicated to treat.
